HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: CHINA ACADEMY OF BUILDING RESEARCH (CABR)
The China Academy of Building Research (CABR) was established in 1953 under the Ministry of Construction of China. In 2000, it transitioned from a government organization to a technology driven state owned enterprise, becoming the largest comprehensive construction research institute in China.
CABR collaborates with over 20 research institutes and more than 30 manufacturing enterprises across 15 countries, including Canada, the United States, Japan, Singapore, and Germany. With extensive experience, the institute has successfully executed major domestic and international projects.
The institute’s primary functions include developing common, fundamental, and public technical standards for the construction industry, conducting project-based research and analysis, and providing solutions to key engineering challenges. OFFICIAL COLLABORATION AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN MGL E&C AND CABR
On November 22, 2025, MGL E&C, a leading Mongolian architectural and engineering design company, officially signed a memorandum of understanding for collaboration with the China Academy of Building Research (CABR), marking a significant milestone in the development of Mongolia’s construction industry.
Under this collaboration, a team of 24 architects and engineers from MGL E&C visited CABR’s headquarters, main laboratories, testing facilities, and major ongoing projects in Beijing, China, gaining first hand exposure to advanced construction research and technologies.
During the visit, both parties discussed how Mongolia’s construction sector can leverage international expertise to address existing challenges, improve quality standards, and align them with Mongolian national regulations. They also explored opportunities for joint projects in Mongolia using best practices from CABR’s experience.
Since its establishment in 2012, MGL E&C has executed large-scale construction design projects in Mongolia using 100% BIM Revit technology, ensuring high quality deliverables. The company has grown into a team of over 50 professionals, including 12 specialized architects and engineers, and collaborates with both domestic and international universities to nurture talent.
